How to Keep a Trading Journal With Chart Screenshots
A P&L number tells you the result. A chart screenshot helps you remember the trade. Keep them together so your review starts with the actual setup rather than a reconstruction from memory.
1. Capture the useful part of the chart
Include the symbol, timeframe, entry and exit area. Leave enough surrounding price action to understand the setup. Hide account numbers and anything you do not want stored or shared. If the chart is too wide for a phone, keep the original and open it at full size when reviewing it.
2. Log the trade and attach the screenshot
In Larpdesk, open the journal and choose Log trade. Enter the instrument, direction, account, date, entry, exit and result. Add your chart image in the photo section. The journal card puts the photo above the trade details so you can recognize the setup while scrolling.
Check the recorded result against your broker's statement. Screenshots are supporting context, not a replacement for the underlying execution record.
3. Write a note you can actually review
A useful note is specific: “Entered after the retest; exited before my planned level when price stalled.” It gives you something to compare next time. “Bad trade” or “nice win” does not explain the decision.
Record the emotions you noticed when logging the trade. Calm, anxious, frustrated and overconfident can describe different experiences even when two trades end with the same result. An emotion is context, not a diagnosis or a trading signal.
4. Review decisions separately from outcomes
At the end of the week, open a few winning and losing trades. Compare what you intended with what you did. Look for recurring choices in your notes and screenshots instead of assuming every profitable trade was well executed.
5. Share only what you intend to share
Use Share Studio when you want a separate video P&L card. Recheck the amount, instrument and dates before exporting. A polished card is a presentation of your record, not verification by a broker or prop firm.
